The moment Alissas desire to take over Artemiss memory plane had been completely diminished by Artemiss desire to stay intact, thats when Alissa was no longer able to enter Artemiss body. Alissas plan ended up going worse than she had expected, because clearly, she had no way of using her primary target.

Being unable to possess Artemiss body meant absolutely the worst for Alissa.
