A plan that backfired.
I brought my legs closer to my chest as I stared at the lake in front of me, not daring to look at Max in the eyes. So much for not falling for his charms, I felt angry with myself but at the same time pleased that I had stopped myself from going further. I had played a game, but it ended up backfiring on me, almost burning me.
I knew that I shouldn have played that game, knowing very well that I still had feelings for him. I had provoked him, luring him in to trap him but he turned it back on me. Luring me in, provoking me.
I stood up abruptly, dusting my ass as I turned around to walk away when he grabbed my arm, holding me in place.
